Council has allocated funding in the current budget to construct a shared path along Weir Road, Harvey. The path will provide safe pedestrian and cycle access from the Harvey Town Site to the Harvey Dam.
The 2.3km path will commence at the eastern pedestrian crossing of South Western Highway, travel along Weir Road and connect to the existing footpath and grassed picnic area of the Harvey Dam. The path will be 2.5m wide and consist of both coloured red concrete and asphalt.
Sections of the existing path at the Harvey Senior High School will be replaced. Works will also include road widening and installation of a refuge island crossing along Weir Road. By constructing the path predominately on-road, the need for vegetation clearing will be kept to a minimum.
Construction is anticipated to take place from April 2020 to June 2020. Traffic management will be in place to ensure traffic disruption along Weir Road is kept to a minimum and that the public’s safety is maintained through-out.
