Fairfield City Council’s 2019 Capture Fairfield Visual Arts & Photography Competition saw 42 visual art and 434 photograph submissions entered, with entrants showing off their creative talents.
This year’s Local Government Week theme of Your Council – Your City and Your Council – Your Community attracted entries from budding artists and photographers in the child, youth and adult categories, which showcase the places, diversity and community spirit that make up Fairfield City.
Judges made their selection based on the skill and strong visual appeal of the works submitted.
The judging panel was made up of Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone, Deputy Mayor Sera Yilmaz, Fairfield City Museum Coordinator Carmel Aiello, local artist May Zuhair Jamil and Fairfield City Council Communications and Marketing Manager Lisa Mifsud.
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said he was impressed by the entries, which had motivated people to discover some of our City’s hidden gems.
“It was great to see people’s unique interpretation of the places, diversity and community spirit that make up our City,” Mayor Carbone said.
“I hope the competition has inspired locals to rediscover the beauty of our City.”
“I would like to thank everyone who participated. We are thrilled by the huge response from the community.”
