Let’s kick Frankston City diners to the kerbside

Dining out will take on a literal meaning in Frankston City thanks to two grants helping restaurateurs extend their service to the kerb.

The grants enable businesses to provide alfresco dining to brighten and activate the city’s eating out experience.

The Kerbside Dining Encouragement Grant provides up to $2000 to successful food and drink businesses for furniture and fittings while the newly launched Façade Improvement Program offers up to $5,000 for businesses to enhance their building façades.

Both grants are joint ventures between Frankston City Council and the Victorian Government.

Seagulls Greek Taverna and Cinars Kebabs on Nepean Highway, Baba on Wells on Wells Street and Cupcake Queens in Shannon Mall will receive $2000 each as part of round two of the Kerbside Dining Encouragement Grant.

Mayor Michael O’Reilly said the grants will give Frankston City diners a bustling outdoor dining experience.

“These businesses can now buy outdoor furniture and fittings to serve outside which will activate the streets with increased outdoor dining activity and give the city a really cool vibe, especially in Summer,” the Mayor said.

Recipients of the first round of the Façade Improvement Program; Baba on Wells, Eeny Meeny, Loom & Spindle, La Parcha and QTs Kitchen will receive up to $5000 to upgrade their facades.

“The Façade Improvement Program was designed to encourage and facilitate business owners, operators and landlords to enhance the presentation of their building or business in the City Centre,” the Mayor said.

Round three of the Kerbside Dining Encouragement Grant and round two of the Façade Improvement Program are now open and close 13 September.

So far there has been 21 businesses to benefit from the two grants collectively.
