An upgrade of Oakey River Bridge on Tanners Road, Wollomombi will lead to disruptions for some road users from Tuesday 13 August.
Forestry NSW is strengthening the crossing in consultation with Council, to assist with upcoming forestry harvesting in the area.
Work at the site, located 2.2km from Waterfall Way, is scheduled to take two weeks and will include periods in which the Tanners Road access across the river will be closed to traffic.
A nearby causeway and side track will provide uninterrupted access for four-wheel-drive vehicles but is not suitable for two-wheel-drive and heavy vehicles.
Alternative access to the southern side of Oakey River will also be available via Kempsey Road and Wyatt Creek Road, linking to Tanners Road.
While the bridge is being upgraded to accommodate trucks for the harvest, it will result in a structure that is suitable for all commercial road users.
For further information about road access during the work, contact Forestry NSW Project Manager Ian Williamson on 0400 309212 or Council’s Program Leader – Asset Manager &Planning, Peter Murray, on 0407 932463.
