This Science Week seriously consider raiding your local library for tech kits you can take home and explore with your family. Jump online to reserve a kit and pick it up from the library – or chat to the library team about what kit might best suit you.
At Bayside Library there’s a range of practical kits you can borrow to create, play and learn with. Anything from a virtual reality headset to a Makey Makey kit can bring robotics, coding and computing to your kitchen table. For example, The Edison V2.0 Robot is Lego compatible and is great for beginners to learn about robotics. When Edison drives over a special barcode, pre-programmed functions like ‘avoid obstacles’ or ‘follow a line’ are activated. You can use your computer or tablet to program Edison in one of 3 programming languages. Easy to follow instructions are provided. This kit would suit children over 5 years.
Science Week is on from 10 - 18 August
