Our award winning Seniors Festival has again attracted attention, Council was named as a finalist in the Leo Kelly OAM Arts and Culture Awards for last year’s program.
Council was also successful at the LGNSW Planning Awards, in the category of Culture Change Innovation and Excellence. Council received a Highly Commended for the Branxton Town Centre Strategy. Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent attended the awards and said it was tough competition.
“There were some amazing events and planning projects from councils across the state that were also named as finalists. It’s wonderful our Council has again been recognised at these awards that are about showcasing councils in NSW going the extra mile when it comes to events, initiatives or projects.”
"I’m proud Council took home a highly commended for the work it has done on the Branxton Town Centre. Council was recognised for the way it collaborated with the community to come up with a vision for the town centre. Facilitating genuine engagement on projects is important and this project is a demonstration of doing it successfully.”
“I’d also like to recognise the community groups and members involved in NAIDOC Week 2018 and the Seniors Festival 2018. This award is a recognition of your tireless efforts in contributing to these events.”
