Tamworth annually attracts tens of thousands of visitors to the region each January in celebration of Australia’s biggest country music event, the Toyota Country Music Festival; and Tamworth Regional Council is seeking expressions of interest from energetic and enthusiastic people over the age of 16 to become involved as an official Festival Community Ambassador. Ambassadors will be responsible for greeting festival goers and providing information services to visitors and locals alike, helping them to have the best Festival experience possible!
Prior to becoming an ambassador, successful applicants will meet with Council’s Volunteer Coordinator, Veronica Filby and undergo a series of training sessions to ensure they are fully equipped with sufficient knowledge and information to help them do a great job.
“We are looking for a number of confident people, who are strong communicators and who would be proud to be involved in the festival.
“It’s a great opportunity to meet new people from all over Australia and particularly for young people to upskill in areas of customer service and event assistance, that could one day even help them to get a job,” said Veronica Filby.
All assigned Festival Community Ambassadors will be required to fulfil a minimum of three shifts across the 10 days in January, with shift durations ranging from three to four hours per day.
“There will also be plenty of perks for the ambassadors, such as exclusive access to the Volunteer Green Room, a free bus pass to use throughout the entire festival, a ticket to the Toyota Golden Guitar Awards, a provided uniform and so much more.”
“The festival is a fantastic time of year and internationally recognised, so we encourage every who is interested to submit an application and take the opportunity to be involved,” added Mrs Filby.
Applications are now available via R U Volunteering www.ruvolunteering.org.au or at Council’s R U Volunteering Hub, located in the former Crown Lands Building, 25 Fitzroy Street, Tamworth.
