The rollout and installation of smart waters meters is due to commence 19 August 2019 with the first of the meters to be installed in the Oakey Park area and progressing west through Lithgow before moving onto Wallerawang, Lidsdale, Portland, Cullen Bullen, Rydal and Glen Davis.
For the installation to occur Council’s Contractor will need to gain access to your water meter. The contractor will knock on the door and advise you that they are intending to complete the installation. The installation will require the water to be turned off, the old meter removed and the new meter installed. For simple installations this should take no more than 5-10 minutes. After the installation the contractor will run some water through a front tap, where one is easily accessible, to flush the line. After the installation residents may experience dirty or milky water and bursts/spitting of water which will pass quickly. This is a result of air in the line and is normal.
There is no need for contractors to enter your home or for you to provide any personal or property details nor will the contractors ask for such information. The only details that may need to be provided is the location of your water meter should it be obscured or inaccessible.
It is uncommon but some residents may notice a leak around the meter box/meter, if you notice a leak or experience any issues after the installation please contact Council on (02) 6354 9999.
Council wishes to apologies for any inconvenience caused during this period. Should you require further information please contact Council’s Water and Wastewater Department of (02) 6354 9999
