Fans of gaming and pop culture are invited to the launch of Nerd Con as part of this year’s Festival of Fisher’s Ghost.
The mini Comic-Con will be held before the Fisher’s Ghost street parade on Saturday 2 November and include local pop culture exhibitors, games and a Cosplay competition.
The winner of the Cosplay competition will be able to show off their winning costume on board the Council float.
Mayor of Campbelltown George Brticevic said Nerd Con will add a new element to the popular Festival of Fisher’s Ghost.
“Many local residents travel all over Sydney for pop culture events,” Cr Brticevic said.
“It’s fitting that we’re bringing that experience to people alongside the street parade and this year’s ‘We could be heroes’ theme,” he said.
Local pop culture themed business owners are organising the event alongside Council.
Iconic Nerd owner, Daniel Fisher said Nerd Con will be the first gaming and pop culture event held in Campbelltown.
“It’s got a different twist to your standard Comic-Con style event because we’ve incorporated the street parade into it which will showcase what we’re doing to the wider community,” said Mr Fisher.
There are more activities planned to be held at Koshigaya Park after the 4pm parade.
