City of Parramatta Council is calling on the local community to have their say on proposed names for roads, streets, lanes and open spaces in Lidcombe’s new Carter Street Precinct.
Council’s 15 proposed names are inspired by the diverse bird species that thrive in local parks and wetlands, as well as the farming and meat industries which previously operated in the 52-hectare Precinct for more than 100 years.
“Over the next 20 years, the Carter Street Precinct will be transformed into a vibrant new village centre, providing 5,500 new homes, a primary school, retail facilities, transport infrastructure, and a large park,” City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Andrew Wilson said.
“It is important that the Carter Street Precinct’s unique history is reflected in the names of its new roads, streets, lanes and open spaces. I encourage everyone in our community to take a look at the proposals and let us know what you think.”
To view the proposed names and have your say, visit the Our Say website between Wednesday 14 August and Wednesday 4 September.
You can also view materials, including maps and background information, at any of the City of Parramatta libraries or the Customer Contact Centre. Materials are available in English, Arabic, Hindi, Korean and Simplified Chinese.
