Free Financial Information Seminars @ your Library

The Department of Human Services will be presenting a series of FREE financial information seminars at Cessnock Library to help people better understand their finances.  

Members of the community should attend a seminar especially if they want to learn more about financial matters, are close to retiring and want to know how to prepare or have retired and want to understand the pension and the options they have.  

Council’s Library Services Co-ordinator, Rose-marie Walters said these seminars are a fantastic opportunity for our community to get expert, independent, unbiased retirement and pre-retirement financial information.  

The three seminars include:  

Understanding Your Pension: Topics covered will include the income and assets tests, what you need to tell Centrelink and pensioner concessions.

Superannuation Income Streams: Topics covered include taxation, social security assessment, income streams and investment options.  

Accommodation Options in Retirement: Topics covered in this seminar include downsizing, retirement villages, over 55 lifestyle villages, moving in with the family, reverse mortgages and the Pension Loan Scheme.
