Construction of Ballarat’s newest public park will start this month. 

The $1.7 million Ballymanus Central Park has been funded by the Ballarat West Development Contributions Plan.   

The park will be located on four hectares in the Ballymanus Estate in Alfredton and will feature a broad range of facilities including a grassed oval, skate and scooter track, multi-use court, picnic area and BBQ facilities.  

Ballymanus Central Park will be built by Ballarat-based construction firm Enoch Civil, on behalf of the City of Ballarat, and is expected to be complete by the end of 2019.  

City of Ballarat Mayor Samantha McIntosh said the park would be an important asset to current and future residents in Alfredton and the Ballarat West Growth Area. 

“One of the qualities Ballarat is best known for is our range of magnificent parks and gardens and recreation areas.”  

“Ballymanus Central Park will help make sure residents in the Ballarat West Growth Area have the same access to great parks and recreational facilities that are enjoyed across our city.”  

“This shows exactly why the Ballarat West Development Contributions Plan is in place: so that infrastructure like parks, intersections and drains, among others can be built when it is needed in our key growth area.”   

“As this area grows, having these facilities available helps to create liveability, connectivity and social wellbeing in our newest communities.”
