Two local high school students were awarded for their artistic talents at the City of Armadale’s annual Outside the Frame Art Awards opening ceremony at the Armadale District Hall on Friday 9 August.
Carey Baptist College student, Trinity Flint, was awarded the Printmaking Excellence Award for her piece The Great Southern Land, and Armadale Senior High School student, Rebecca Dean, was awarded the Local Artist Award for her piece Red Wing.
The students were two of eight students who received awards for their creativity while Perth Modern School was awarded the school with the ‘Best Collective Works’.
City of Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said the annual art awards allows students in Years 11 and 12 and their teachers from across Perth the opportunity to network and share their creative expertise and experiences in a professionally curated exhibition.
“Art is heavily embedded into Armadale’s culture and we continue to be proud to host this exhibition each year to give young people across Perth an opportunity to exhibit their high level artwork to the public.
“I would like to congratulate all of the participating students on their pieces, and special congratulations to our award winners.
“Once again, this year’s exhibition showcases thought provoking contemporary artworks in painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, digital media/photography and mixed media, and an insight into the issues that young people in our community face.”
