Why sit at home streaming Netflix when you can create a fun social event with a big-screen movie in your community?
Corangamite Shire Council Economic Development and Events Officer Tammy Young said the mobile cinema was available from October 2019 and March 2020.
“Getting together with your community, sporting club or any other social group is a great way to have fun and raise funds for a cause,” Ms Young said.
“Showing movies in our community halls and open spaces is a good excuse for everyone in our farming communities to come together and have a sense of belonging to a wider friendship group.
“Council can arrange the booking of the film on behalf of your community group.
“There is a small fee for the screening rights, which ranges between $150 and $350,” she said.
“In the past various groups have screened new releases like The Greatest Showman, and nostalgic favourites like Back to the Future and Annie; kids’ movies like Cars and family shows like Hotel Transylvania 3 and Coco.”
In collaboration with the Corangamite Film Society, Council can arrange volunteers to take the mobile cinema equipment to your venue and show the movie of your choice.
Ms Young said screenings were subject to the availability of volunteers.
If you would like to screen a movie, download an expression of interest form here or contact the Council on 5593 7100 for a hard copy.
Expressions of interest close on Friday 27 September.
