The biggest retail shopping event in Australia returns to Sydney next month for its 10th anniversary with catwalks, in-store promotions, beauty bars and champagne on offer throughout the city centre.
The City of Sydney will partner with Vogue American Express Fashion’s Night Out on Thursday 5 September, which will feature more than 600 retailers and brands taking part in the annual extravaganza.
More than 200,000 shoppers are expected to attend the event, along with VIPs and celebrity guests – generating more than $30 million for Sydney’s retail economy.
Pop-up stores, fashion forums and live performances will enliven the city centre with a dedicated fashion focus for the evening.
“The City of Sydney is proud to partner with the ever popular Vogue American Express Fashion’s Night Out, which is now in its 10th year,” the Lord Mayor said.
“This annual event shows off Sydney as the fashion hub of Australia, promoting the talents of Australian designers and attracting visitors to the city centre.
“Fashion’s Night Out brings even more life to our city streets and boosts retail opportunities in our main shopping precinct.
“This event gives focus to, and helps celebrate, Sydney as a global fashion shopping destination which is good for local jobs and good for the economy.”
Vogue American Express Fashion’s Night Out will run from 10am to 10pm across Pitt Street Mall, Martin Place, David Jones, Queen Victoria Building, Strand Arcade, The Galeries, and Castlereagh and Market streets.
The Lord Mayor will launch the event at 12pm in Pitt Street Mall alongside Edwina McCann, Editor-in-Chief, Vogue Australia, and other special guests.
The event is free to attend and caters for men too with styling workshops, pop-up bars and gourmet fast food available in the David Jones ‘man cave’.
Vogue VIP, Vogue Australia’s new members-only experience which gives subscribers unprecedented access into the world of Vogue Australia, will also launch at vaefno. Vogue subscribers will be able to enjoy exclusive access to the Vogue Lounge and be gifted a goodie bag full of special offers from retailers.
The City has been a major sponsor, with cash and in-kind support, for the international fashion event since it started in 2010. Established to celebrate shopping and support the fashion industry during the global financial crisis, the event began in New York and is now celebrated in shopping capitals across the world from Tokyo to Madrid and Moscow.
2019 also marks the 60th anniversary of Vogue Australia.
