Brighton East Village is getting an upgrade
Bayside City Council 21 Aug 2019

Construction of the Brighton East Village streetscape improvements is scheduled to begin next week. Works are expected to be completed in December 2019, weather permitting.

The upgrades follow community consultation with local residents and traders on a draft design proposed for the Brighton East Village streetscape. The design vision is to provide a more vibrant local shopping village.

Key improvements include reconstruction of the footpaths to improve pedestrian safety, accessibility and to improve the quality of the village with new tree plantings, furniture and gardens.

Along with the streetscape renewal works we will also be undertaking drainage works to reduce the impact of flooding at the intersection of Clive Street and Hawthorn Road. These works will be undertaken in a way to retain through traffic and minimise disruption to existing businesses.

Whilst there will be some disruption during construction, the end result will be a more attractive and accessible precinct for all to enjoy. Please ensure you observe any signage to ensure your safety and the safety of workers while construction is underway.

Businesses will be trading as usual during construction, so please continue to support your local traders during this time.
