Each year, children and books are brought together to celebrate Children’s Book Week, when schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrate Australian Children's Literature.

Sarah Davis and Juliette Maclver Sarah and Juliette, who have published six books together and, individually, more than 50 between them, present lively and hilarious sessions in which they sing about which of the two of them is the most important, dance with the children, talk about the trials and triumphs of picture-book creation, and read aloud from their books.Tuesday 13 AugustBankstown Library and Knowledge CentreFriday 16 August Lakemba Library and Knowledge CentreSuitable for primary school aged children. Wai Chim Wai Chim is the author of the popular junior fiction series, Chook Chook and Freedom Swimmer, a young adult novel inspired by the true story of her father swimming from China to Hong Kong to escape Communist rule. Kid's comedian and educator Sean Murphy is bringing his hilarious show, Kid's Party Confidential to libraries this August. Tying into this year's theme, 'Reading is my secret power', the show prompts children to unleash their super-powered imaginations and switch off screens, phones, games or plain old Netflix – to find fun in books, games and each other!
Suitable for primary school aged children. Friday 23 August at Bankstown Library and Knowledge Centre, 9am-11am.All Kindergarten to Year 2 classes are invited to participate in our interactive library visits.
This is an ideal opportunity to promote Book Week, and introduce your students to their local library. Each session will include a presentation of shortlisted books, storytelling, and an overview of library resources, activities and information on becoming a library member.
Sessions run for approximately 45 minutes and are available from Friday 16 August to Friday 23 August.
Please consider carefully the dates you wish to book, we may not be able to accommodate last minute changes.
Class visits are dependent on each library's availabilities and schedules.
