The Rockingham Arts Centre will open its doors to the community from 8am – 12pm for the event, giving visitors the chance to see the centre’s hireable spaces, learn more about the community art workshop program and participate in free art activities for people of all ages.
Activities to be hosted on the day include raffia weaving, Chinese calligraphy, self-portraits and paint marbling. There will be a dedicated ‘Kidz Zone’ where children can create a colourful mask and make their Dads a sand art card for Father’s Day.
Visitors will be able to view the ‘More Smalls’ exhibition in the gallery, which will be presented by Rockingham Regional Arts Inc.
Friends of the Rockingham Art Community (FORAC) will present ceramic demonstrations plus a mini book fair, while families will also be able to enjoy drumming circle fun and free face painting for children.
City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels encouraged residents to get involved in the wide range of activities scheduled during the Rockingham Arts Centre Open Day.
“The Rockingham Arts Centre has grown to be the hub for arts and culture in our City and gives many talented artists a platform to showcase their outstanding work,” Mayor Sammels said.
“The Open Day at the centre has a range of exciting activities for visitors of all ages and the City encourages anyone interested in the arts to make sure they visit and join in the fun.”
The Rockingham Arts Centre Open Day will be presented in partnership with Rockingham Regional Arts Inc. and FORAC.
