If you are a blues music fan, the name Phil Manning will no doubt be on top of your playlist.
Once described as ‘electric fingers on acoustic guitar’, Phil Manning is coming back to Wyreena’s Music Café to perform his original blues and folk music on Friday 20 September.
A veteran of the music industry in Australia, Phil has been at the forefront of blues and roots style music for over four decades, first coming to public attention as a founding and continuing member of Chain, a prominent rock/blues band of the 60s and 70s.
Throughout his career, he has displayed great talent on both the electric and acoustic guitar, absorbing influences from folk, blues, country, and crafting them into his unique style.
His energetic performances have made him an engaging artist who presents both traditional songs and a string of original music, based on his personal interpretation of the many recurring themes in blues and folk history.
Tours of Ireland, UK and New Zealand, among other leading blues festivals and venues in recent years has revealed his original take on blues/roots music to a much wider audience.
Phil has also recorded many albums, both solo and with Chain, as well as countless recordings with other artists as a session player. As well as the blues and roots guitar influence in his recordings there is also a large element of the singer-songwriter within his CDs, revealing a great sense of lyricism.
As with all great bluesmen, Phil is best witnessed in live performance. It is here the sheer artistry of his work shines through and it is for this reason he’s adored by audiences wherever he performs.
Enjoy an evening with Phil Manning in this one-night only special live performance at the Wyreena Music Café this September.
Wyreena Music Café is a fully licensed venue with allocated seating and supper, so bookings are essential.
