Council is providing opportunities for members of the community to earn while they learn with a variety of trainee, cadetship and apprenticeship positions just advertised.
Since 2015, Council has provided 46 of these positions across various sectors including nine cadetships, seven apprentices and 30 trainees.
The program allows people to learn on the job with structured training, while helping to increase Council’s skill base and provide mentoring opportunities for existing staff.
Blue Mountains City Council CEO, Dr Rosemary Dillon, said: “These roles benefit both the community and council by providing training opportunities for local residents, while boosting Council’s skill base.
“In line with our goals for creating a more sustainable Blue Mountains, we are providing young people and those seeking to change careers, the chance to gain valuable on-the-job experience and skills training while earning a weekly wage.”
Cadetships, Apprenticeships and Traineeships are jobs that combine work and structured training, making them a great way to start a career.
They offer the chance to boost skills by working in a hands-on environment, while gaining national recognised qualifications and valuable learning experiences across various operations within the organisation.
The 2020 Cadets, Apprentices & Trainees intake has just been announced and includes the following roles:
• 1x Trainee Arborist • 1x Apprentice Plumber • 1x Apprentice Painter • 1x Apprentice Civil Construction • 1x Cadet Engineer • 1x Cadet Building Surveyor/Certifier • 1x Cadet Environmental Science • 1x Cadet Waste & Sustainability
