Liverpool City Council’s annual Charity Ball, held on 21 September at The William Inglis Hotel, makes a fantastic Father’s Day gift. That’s the message from Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller.
“Final tickets to our Tokyo-inspired black-tie affair are on sale just in time for Father’s Day and are a great way to treat dad to something special, however people need to get in quick to make sure they don’t miss out,” Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said.
“The sixth annual event will whisk guests away to the bright lights, bustle and beauty of Tokyo, bringing together fantastic cuisine, entertainment and décor that celebrates the incredible metropolis and Japanese culture.
“Most importantly, funds raised through ticket sales and at the event will go to the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research, who do fantastic work in areas such as cancer, mental health and clinical services research.”
Darryl Harkness, CEO at the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research, said he was honoured Council would raise funds for the organisation at the 2019 Charity Ball.
“I am incredibly grateful that Liverpool City Council has recognised the importance of our research and clinical trials, which aim to improve health outcomes, as well as provide employment opportunities, for the people of Liverpool,” Mr Harkness said.
“Funds raised at the Charity Ball will go to our student-focused programs, inspiring young people in Liverpool to take up careers in health and science whilst gaining practical work experience and industry skills.”
The celebration will take over The William Inglis Hotel on 21 September, 6pm – 11pm, where guests will enjoy sake tasting and sashimi during cocktail hour, followed by a three-course Japanese-inspired menu prepared by The Newmarket Room chefs.
The MC, Japanese comedian Showko, will perform a ventriloquist comedy set and there will be a musical collaboration between taiko drummers, YuNiOn, and master kotoist, Satsuki Odamura. There will also be a purikura photo booth, raffles and giveaways galore.
