Williams Landing Boulevard Reserve Complete

A major Wyndham City project is now complete, following the construction of a $4 million pavilion at the Williams Landing Boulevard Reserve. This is the final piece of the puzzle for the $11 million sporting hub.

The pavilion was officially opened on Monday (26th of August) by Wyndham City councillors and Member for Tarneit, Sarah Connolly.

Wyndham City Sports Development portfolio holder, Cr Peter Maynard, said the pavilion had a community space, kitchen, change rooms, storage for sports equipment and a 131-space car park.

“This pavilion will provide essential facilities for sports teams and a meeting space for the wider community,” Cr Maynard said.

“This $4 million Wyndham City project was made possible through a Victorian Government $1.9 million grant as part of the Growing Suburbs Fund.”

Cr Peter Maynard said the first stage of the reserve was completed in mid-2017, consisting of two ovals, six tennis courts, a children’s playground and cricket nets.

“In that time the reserve has been enthusiastically embraced by the Williams Landing community,” Cr Maynard said.

“It has led to the creation of several new sporting clubs, including the Williams Landing soccer, cricket and tennis clubs, which are going from strength to strength.”

“This pavilion will allow these teams to reach their full potential, with proper change rooms and a place to host their fundraisers and award nights.”

Williams Landing is a fast-growing community, almost tripling in size in the past eight years, from 3,200 residents in 2011 to 9,350 people in 2019.

Council is committed to providing new spaces for Williams Landing residents to exercise, relax and connect with their neighbours.
