RFDS can count on Central Highlands’ support

Posted on August 28, 2019

Central Highlands Regional Council Councillors handed over a $10,000 cheque to the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland).

RFDS Chief Operating Officer Andrew Barron and Philanthropy Manager Bill Maddock visited council this week as part of a visit to the region and to receive the donation in person.

Mr Barron thanked council’s support for funding saying that Emerald is one of the key regional towns that the RFDS come to multiple times per week.

The pair reported more than 500 recoveries in the Central Highlands region each year with cardiac issues, appendicitis and trauma from accidents making up the major cases.

Mayor Kerry Hayes recognised the extraordinary work the RFDS do in the region.

‘We are privileged to have the RFDS service our region and I think I speak on behalf of our entire community when I express my gratitude towards the work that they do, the lives that you save and those lives you prolong.’
