Council is pleased to advise that the Ayr Pool will be open again from 7 September 2019 – just in time for school holidays.

Contractors have recently finalised the planned refurbishments to the pool’s scum gutters.  Council’s Director of Infrastructure, Planning and Environmental Services Nick Wellwood said that Council was pleased with the progress of the works.

“There has been a minor delay to the normal opening time of the pool due to the curing period that must be observed before the pool can be refilled” he said.

“Council normally reopens the pool on 1 September each year, but this year the pool will reopen on Saturday 7 September.

“In addition to the new scum gutters, Council also undertook works to remove and reseal the major joins in the pool which will help to reduce water loss at the pool”.

Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said that the refurbishment works would help to extend the life of the pool.

“Council has carried out these works to extend the life of the pool.  The pool has always been a popular facility for residents and visitors alike and Council wanted to ensure that it is available for many more years to come” she said.

“We’re very pleased with the results of the refurbishment and we’re sure that our residents and visitors will enjoy using the pool as the weather begins to warm up” she said.
