Council undertakes regular road maintenance to ensure that the shire road network is maintained to standards suitable for all users.
Unsealed roads are inspected regularly and any issues are then scheduled for repair.
Sealed road maintenance works are programmed as required and can include minor road repairs, pot hole patching, kerb, channel and footpath maintenance issues.
Bluestone workThe bluestone maintenance work in Kyneton, including Edgecombe Street, is nearing completion. The renewal work, which includes pedestrian raised crossings and improvements to the storm water drainage and channel and bluestone table drains.
The work began in May with an estimated cost of $83,000, funded through Council's 2018/19 Capital Works Budget.
Council is also completing a bluestone kerb renewal project in Yaldwyn Street East, Kyneton incorporating a new underground drain to accommodate stormwater.
The project, which began in May, was temporarily suspended at the end of June due to weather conditions. The work will start again in October with completion expected at the end of November.
Crossings and footpathsTenders closed last week (Friday, 23 August) for construction of two new pram crossings—the tapered section from the footpath to the bottom of the kerb—and replacement of a section of concrete kerb at Sunny Park Close, Gisborne.
The work is expected to be completed by early October.
MalmsburyA tender has also been advertised for a replacement concrete cross over in Mollison Street, Malmsbury, with work proposed for September.
PlantingMore than 300 trees are being planted in towns throughout the Macedon Ranges as part of Council’s annual tree-planting program. The program is expected to be completed by September, with trees being planted in selected streets, parks and reserves. The trees are planted during autumn and winter as this is the optimal time to give trees the best chance of survival.
