During September Council will undertake a bin audit involving 100 randomly selected households to assess our waste reduction and recycling performance.
A small number of randomly selected waste and recycling bins from across the council area will be collected, weighed and assessed.
This is not an individual household assessment of any single waste or recycling bin. The samples taken from each stream will all end up together and the auditors will make their assessments based on the total daily collections.
This waste assessment will provide valuable data to the Council regarding the amount and type of waste currently presented at the kerbside for collection.
Access to accurate waste data will help: • Determine the performance of the 240 litre recycling bins • Provide feedback to the community on their recycling efforts and • Better plan future recycling and waste reduction strategies
All information gathered will remain confidential and anonymous. All data will be based on the entire collective sample, not on any individual households.
