La Boite Studio, Theatre Republic, 6-8 Musk Avenue, Kelvin Grove Tuesday, September 10, 2019, 7 – 8:15pm Eight years ago, James’s best friend was diagnosed with heart cancer and told he had three months to live. His last wish was to be given a full Viking burial. This is the remarkable story of how James and Sarah actually gave their best mate the send-off he wanted. This work is part of Songs of Friendship, a revelatory storytelling cycle about love, life, friendship, death – and the ridiculous, sublime muddles of everyday existence. Combining story, comedy and song – each accompanied by James’s own music live on stage – these shows have been performed hundreds of times across the world to awards and rave reviews, and now make their Australian premiere in Brisbane. Directed by Daniel Goldman, these productions can be seen individually as stand-alone experiences or enjoyed together as one epic trilogy on Saturday. Songs of Friendship is comprised of Team Viking, A Hundred Different Words for Love, and Revelations. Brisbane City Council is a proud founding partner of Brisbane Festival.
