Join us for an outer space adventure and be part of the 2019 Greater Dandenong Children’s Festival.
This two-week celebration will be held throughout the school holidays from September 21 to 6 October.
Now in its eighth year the festival offers a series of free and low cost events at venues right across the city.
Events and activities this year are all themed around Space Adventure.
This includes the deckchair movie sessions which will be held in Harmony Square at 12pm each weekday of the school holidays, except the Grand Final Day public holiday.
In addition to the movies some of the key activities on offer during the festival include making your own flying saucer pizza, a tree planting session under the stars and a make your own spaceship art and craft activity.
The headline event –Little Day Out– is back again this year and will be held at Ross Reserve on Sunday 6 October from 11am to 4pm.
This year visitors to the Little Day Out will travel to a world filled with stars, planets and solar systems thanks to a pop-up planetarium.
Greater Dandenong Mayor Cr Roz Blades said the festival was one of the biggest on the Greater Dandenong calendar, attracting more than 20,000 people each year.
“This is a festival filled with fun and adventure,” Mayor Blades said.
“Strap yourself in and prepare for blast off. This year’s festival promises something for everyone.”
This year’s Little Day Out will also feature the Shorter Cuts Film Festival – a collection of films for children.
The films will screen at the Noble Park Community Centre at Ross Reserve.
