Northern Territory Treaty Commissioner Attends Council Meeting

Barkly Regional Council would like to thank the new Northern Territory Treaty Commissioner, Professor Mick Dodson AM for attending our Council meeting on Thursday last week.

The role of the Treaty Commissioner is not to negotiate a Treaty but to develop a framework that will be used to negotiate Treaties. This framework will ensure that future Treaty negotiations are conducted respectfully; in god faith; with an equality of standing and are culturally appropriate.
