Get in quick – there are less than two weeks left to nominate an outstanding senior for the City of Ballarat’s 2019 Senior of the Year Awards. 

Do you know an older Ballarat person who makes a difference in our community? It could be a leader who inspires others, a behind-the-scenes volunteer or a person who does the hands-on work to deliver services. 

Then nominate them for the Senior of the Year Awards! 

Each year, the Awards recognise those residents, aged 55 years and older, who have made a significant contribution to the Ballarat community.       

The 2019 Senior of the Year Award categories are:    

Volunteering Award  Healthy and Active Living Award    Diversity Award 

From these categoies, the winner of the overarching 2019 Senior of the Year Award will be chosen. 

Nominations for the Awards are now open and close on Sunday 15 September, 2019. Complete the nomination form available online at mysay.ballarat.vic.gov.au or collect a nomination form from The Phoenix Customer Service, Armstrong Street South, or from Lucas Community Hub, the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre and from Ballarat Libraries. 

The winners will be announced at a reception held at Ballarat Town Hall on Thursday 3 October - the opening event of the 2019 Ballarat Seniors celebrations. 

The Victorian Seniors Festival runs throughout October featuring a great range of events, including the City of Ballarat Active Ageing team’s free Seniors Pop-Up Hub on Wednesday 2 October at the Lucas Community Hub.

The City of Ballarat’s Active Ageing team aims to support our older residents to remain as independent and active as possible, both in their own home and in the community. The team offer a diverse range of social activities to encourage people to remain connected to their community, meet new people and to have fun.
