Tails will be wagging with excitement at the launch of Bradbury’s new off-leash dog park.

Residents are invited to bring their four-legged friends to a community event from 10am to 12pm on Saturday 7 September to open the new facility at Baden Powell Reserve.

The park features a dog agility area with a synthetic turf surface, natural grassed area, sheltered picnic area, tree plantings for shade, various seating options, a bubbler with tap and dog bowl and a 1.5m high perimeter fence.

People can chat to staff from Council’s Animal Care Facility and representatives from Help Save the Wildlife and Bushlands in Campbelltown while also enjoying a sausage sizzle and face painting for the kids during the community event.

“It’s very important that people have a place to take their dogs to exercise and socialise with other animals,” Mayor George Brticevic said.

“Dogs are able to run around with other dogs, practice training techniques and have a bit of fun in the park. This can prevent behavioural issues such as excessive barking and destructiveness,” Cr Brticevic said.

The Bradbury park is the sixth off-leash dog facility in the area provided by Council with the others located at Minto, Raby, St Helens Park, Macquarie Fields and Glenfield.

Other parks open or under construction are being provided by developers at Willowdale in Denham Court and New Breeze in Bardia.

The park was funded by a $100,000 grant from the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment with matching funds of $100,000 provided by Council.
