Businesses across Yass Valley were given the opportunity to expand their knowledge on exporting processes at an introduction to exporting workshop in Yass on Tuesday.
Hosted by the NSW Government, ACT Government, Canberra Region Joint Organisation and Yass Valley Council, the workshop targeted businesses that were interested in starting their export journey, giving them the opportunity to hear from a panel of professionals that provide services within the exporting industry.
Yass Valley Mayor Rowena Abbey, said the workshop provided a valuable insight in to the exporting process.
“The Yass Valley region is well known for its high quality produce and now with the Canberra airport offering international flights and connectivity, the ability to move products is happening faster than ever before,” Mayor Abbey said.
“We are lucky enough to have Canberra right on our door step, the ability to export our products around the world is now much easier for those businesses who are interested in taking that journey.”
The ACT and NSW governments have made a commitment to improve freight and export opportunities at the Canberra Airport as part of its regional agreement. The NSW Government’s Future Transport 2056 Strategy identified Canberra as a Global Gateway City, hosting an airport with both domestic and international freight capabilities and potential access for regional NSW businesses.
The collaboration between the state governments, as well as alignment with the local government strategies is important for southern NSW and ACT producers seeking easy and fast access to markets, particularly in Asia, with additional flow-on benefits to cargo flights and passenger services.
