The Toowoomba Hospital Foundation is bringing back it’s popular Zombie Walk, calling on all zombies, ghouls, slayers and survivors to stagger and crawl their way down Toowoomba streets in the name of raising funds for the Toowoomba Hospital Cardiac Investigations Unit.
An army of undead will descend on Queens Park this Halloween Saturday 26 October, and march towards Civic Square where zombies can continue festivities at the Toowoomba Regional Libraries ‘Halloween at the Toowoomba City Library’ event.
Toowoomba Hospital Foundation CEO Alison Kennedy said the Foundation was overwhelmed with requests to host the Zombie Walk again following the success of previous years.
“It’s such a unique and interesting event for Toowoomba and it’s good fun to get dressed up especially for Halloween,” she said.
“We’ve seen all manner of zombies over the years from Peter Pan and Captain Hook to undead brides and military peacekeepers, there really is no limit to our community’s creativity.”
Mrs Kennedy said this year’s event aims to raise funds to assist the staff and patients of the Toowoomba Hospital.
“We’re encouraging everyone to ‘get their zombie on’ with their friends and family to help us purchase equipment for the incredible staff of our Cardiac Investigations Unit,” she said.
“Whether you’re young, old or young-at-heart, this is a fantastic event to get behind and there’ll be plenty of family-friendly activities waiting at the finish line thanks to our mates at Toowoomba Regional Libraries.”
Toowoomba Regional Council Portfolio Leader for Libraries, Cr Joe Ramia said that it was a great outcome for the community that Halloween at the City Library would have an influx of visitors from the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation’s Zombie Apocalypse.
“Zombie Walkers will be able to enjoy a host of activities at the free festivities including scavenger hunts, spooky croquet, slime making and even a Zombie Archery attack,” Cr Ramia said.
“The Region should get ready to enter a world of spooky fun as the CBD gets ‘zombified’ for this year’s Halloween at the City Library.”
