Mosquito Treatment Program Kicks-Off

The Shire’s environmental health team has started its mosquito treatment program along the Leschenault wetlands, Clifton Park and Australind foreshore areas.
The tidal water flooding from the estuary to Buffalo Road created the perfect breeding ground for mosquitos and staff were actively treating the area to combat mosquito breeding.
The mosquitoes are treated by an aerial operation, followed by staff assessing the site for larvae and mosquito hatching within five days of the treatment.
The treatment area around Australind can be up to 45 hectares across the season and will continue in the coming months.
