Council Works – Week ending 30 August 2019

“For the week ending 30 August, the following key works were completed by Council staff”, noted Council’s Mayor, Cr. Ray Thompson.

“Within the urban Lithgow area last week, Council staff have completed the major works required to open up the pedestrian footbridge over Farmers Creek,” said Mayor Thompson. “This project is nearing completion and in the coming weeks, additional safety rails will be installed to finalise the project,” said Mayor Thompson. “Alongside this work, staff have also commenced the construction of footings within Cook Street Plaza prior to the installation of new shade structures. This project will be complete prior to the end of September. Lastly, restorations of the NBN paving works have been completed and I thank the community for their patience in this regard.”

“In the last week Council’s rural works staff have continued working towards the completion of two major renewal projects on Hazelgrove Road, Tarana and Cuthill Road, Sodwalls,” noted Mayor Thompson. “While these projects are significant, focus is still being given to road maintenance in urban and rural areas. Pipers Flat Road, Rydal Hampton Road and Walker Drive, Wallerawang have had bitumen repairs while Thorpes Pinch Road and Genowlan Road have had maintenance grading performed.”

“Lastly, Council’s Recreation staff have been hard at work maintaining and preparing our public parks and sporting infrastructure for local events,” noted Mayor Thompson. “The Tony Luchetti precinct, Wallerawang Oval and Kremer Park continues to be maintained weekly in preparation for ongoing events which, by all accounts, is received with great appreciation by our many great sporting teams and associations. In addition to this work, tree pruning is ongoing within the township of Portland, turf seeding has commenced at the Lithgow Golf Club and improvements such as new exhaust fans, pool blankets and louvre switchgear has been installed at the Aquatic Centre.”
