Council offers funding to landholders for weed and pest control

The Council has received $123,000 in a joint application with Moira Shire Council to treat noxious weeds and rabbits on private properties and roadsides.

The funding is available to landholders for the control and management of weeds and pests.

Funding is available for:

Weed control Rabbit control Agriculture Chemical User Permit (ACUP) training On-farm biosecurity training

This project is funded by the Australian Government under the Communities Combating Pests and Weed Impacts During Drought Program.

Mayor, Cr Scott Upston, said the control of weed and pests by landholders is important.

“These funds go directly to landholders to help with weed and pest management activities,” said Cr Upston.

“The funding will go toward projects that improve the resilience of agricultural and primary producing areas and to enhance agricultural productivity.

“We are grateful to the Australian Government for the opportunity for the Council to provide financial assistance to landholders dealing with weed and pest issues.”
