It’s time to slip on your oven mitts and dust off your mixer with the Campaspe Shire Council Great Heritage Family Bake Off, now open for registrations.

Library Services Manager Jenny Mustey said as part of the Campaspe Regional Library’s Spring school holiday program, the family friendly competition invites children to bake either a cake, slice or biscuit with help from a parent, aunt/uncle or grandparent.

“The event will take place on Monday, 23 September and will be judged by Liz Harfull, bestselling author of ‘The Australian Blue Ribbon Cookbook’ and ‘Tried, Tested and True’ along with Jacq Campbell, who is the coordinator of the Murray River Culinary Challenge,” Mrs Mustey said.

“Liz and Jacq will be entertaining and providing helpful tips to the entrants during the judging process.”

“The theme is ‘heritage’, where the creation of your tried and tested family recipes is encouraged.”

“There are separate age classes for 5-10 and 11-15 years old with fantastic prizes up for grabs in each.”

Entry forms and judges tips are available from the library website or in library branches and can be requested via email at [email protected].

Entry forms must be submitted by Friday, 20 September with the baked goods to be received on Monday, 23 September from 9 to 11am.

“Judging will start at 1pm where everyone is welcome to attend, followed by a yummy afternoon tea,” Mrs Mustey said.
