Moruya’s Apex Park is set for a facelift, with a tree-lined avenue, new shade trees and a feature garden.
Adjacent to the Princes Highway, Apex Park with its bus stop and amenities block is the only park visible to drivers passing directly through town.
The amenities block garden will be replanted with low-maintenance natives and will include a feature rock to complement the current plaque recognising the role of granite in the town’s development.
The path running diagonally across the park will be planted out with fast-growing brush box to create a tree-lined avenue, and the mistletoe-infested pin oak growing next to the amenities block, assessed as a public risk, will be replaced by a shade-giving blueberry ash tree.
The focus will be about creating additional picnic opportunities in the park with plenty of summer shade using pest and disease resistant plants and trees with low water needs.
Most of the park – including the toilets, picnic tables and bus stop - will remain open when work begins next week, with some areas restricted and the public reminded to care when passing through the area.
