The recently refurbished Dalby Events Centre has become a star venue in the region with a huge variety of events being held, large and small.
Recent events that have been a hit at the Centre include Western Downs Regional Council’s Wedding Expo and Chamber of Commerce networking events, weddings, award nights, information sessions and a musical showcase.
Upgrades were completed in October last year with the Dalby Events Centre now providing a significant positive flow-through effect to the local economy.
Local resident and Kobbers Motor Inn owner Regi Lehman believe that they have experienced an increase in their own business since the reopening of the Centre.
“The positive economic benefit to the whole town from functions held at the Events Centre is obvious,” she said.
“When we researched Dalby before buying the motel, we noticed that the Centre was being upgraded and saw the potential in having a motel near such a great venue.
“We’re the closest motel to the Events Centre and we have noticed a direct increase in room occupancy, particularly over the weekends.”
Independent Consultants Australia Network Director John Cameron recently hired the Dalby Events Centre for a GRDC Grains Research Update and said he was blown away by the quality of the renovations.
“I was super-impressed by the ease of use of the master control system, which enabled full control at the touch of a finger on things such as lighting, microphones and audio-visual gear,” he said.
“The audio-visual facilities, air-conditioning and convenience of using the renovated Knowles Function Centre was a great experience and the existence of such a great facility will see the GRDC Grains Research Updates return to Dalby in the near future.
“The Council should be commended for such a fantastic high-tech renovation to this lovely old building.”
Alongside venue hire, Council facility officers also do pre-inspection handovers with hiring parties to show them how everything in the Centre operates.
The Centre also offers a set up service, with a range of items available for use including red carpets, gold bollards, tablecloths, chair covers, wine buckets and dry bars.
Spokesperson for Council Facilities Councillor Ray Brown says the venue provides a great opportunity for regional engagement.
“The Centre has generated a great response from our community and we’re happy to see such a unique facility featured in our region,” he said.
“Our technology upgrades now put us on par with facilities offered in major city centres, and the easy to use master control systems enable even the least tech-savvy hosts to run a great event.”
Upcoming events booked for the Centre include school formals, networking events, birthday parties and Christmas parties.
The Centre can be configured to seat up to 500 people.
