Dog park is off-leash

​Dog bubblers, picnic shelters and secure fencing are all features that can be found at the recently completed new dog park at Ruse Park, Bankstown.

Mayor Khal Asfour encouraged residents to make good use of the off-leash area.

"Residents have asked for more dedicated areas for dogs and we’ve delivered," he said. "This is our 10th off-leash area.

"Off-leash areas have great benefits for dogs, not only enabling them to exercise in a controlled and secure environment, but also to help them socialise with other animals.

"Dog parks are also a meeting place for dog owners. They can help build a sense of community."

Council is currently investigating more locations for off-leash dog parks.

Parks are currently located at: 

Peace Park, Ashbury (Trevenar Street); Close Street Reserve, Canterbury (Close Street); Band Hall Reserve, Birrong (Ferrier Road); Cooks River Foreshore, Campsie (Sixth Avenue); Hughes Park, Earlwood (Warburton Parade); Richard Podmore Reserve, Roselands (Karne Street North); The Vale of Ah, Milperra (Auld Avenue); Craig Street, Punchbowl (Kylie Parade); and Peter Moore Field, Belmore (Tudor Street).

The Ruse Park off-leash area was jointly funded by Council and the Department of Planning and Environment.
