Disability Action Week is an annual celebration that acknowledges the important and varied contributions people living with a disability make to our region.
The week, which runs from Sunday 15 to 22 September, aims to raise awareness of disability issues, improve access and inclusion throughout the wider community, and empower people with disabilities.
A range of community partners and Gympie Regional Council have created a calendar of events for people to enjoy.
On Thursday 19 September, 10am to 1pm, join the open day at the Gympie Aquatic Recreation Centre. Enjoy free access to the splash park and indoor pool and a tour of the gym and grounds. Visitors will be able to meet with Disability Service Providers, NDIS Providers and Advocacy Services. A free sausage sizzle and a coffee or pop top will be available on the day.
On Saturday 21 September at 5pm, grab your picnic blanket, pillows and bring the family for a fun night out, as Movies in the Park returns to Nelson Reserve, featuring the film Patrick. This event will include a free jumping castle and popcorn before the movie, and is proudly co-hosted by Bravo Disability Support Network.
