Published on 13 September 2019

If there’s a person or event you’re aware of that has achieved or contributed a lot in our region, consider nominating them for a 2020 Australia Day Award.

Nominations are now open in the following categories:

Young Citizen of the Year Citizen of the Year Community Project or Event of the Year

Our annual Australia Day Awards are an opportunity to recognise outstanding or noteworthy contributions and service to our region.

Mildura Mayor Simon Clemence said Australia Day Awards were also a chance to ensure local residents and groups are acknowledged across the municipality for their achievements.

“When you look at our previous Australia Day Award recipients and their achievements, it shows the calibre of people and events we’re so fortunate to have in our region,” Cr Clemence said.

“It also highlights the value and prestige in which Australia Day Awards are held, not just in our region, but across the country.”

Potential Citizens of the Year are people who have made a voluntary noteworthy contribution during 2019 and/or given outstanding service to the local community.

Young Citizens of the Year must be under 25 on 26 January 2020 and have made a voluntary noteworthy contributing during 2019 in the field of sport, academia or environmental/social responsibility.
