Pool entry at no cost, water slides at no cost, and an exclusive pre-screening of the new ABC documentary ‘The Pool’ – what better way to kick off spring and the school holidays!
Council are inviting Central Highlanders to a free community pool party at the Emerald Aquatic Centre on Saturday 21 September 2019, with free entry from 9.45 am to 5.00 pm and free water slide sessions from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm.
BYO food or grab a charity sausage sizzle from the Rotary Club of Emerald from 11.00 am to 12.30 pm, then stay to watch part one of the ‘The Pool’ before it premiers on Sunday 22 September on ABC TV and iView.
Screenings of the hour-long episode will be held at 12.00 pm and 4.00 pm, showcasing the history of pools and the role they play in the Australian community.
The pool kiosk will also be in operation as usual with ice cream, food and refreshments available for purchase.
Central Highlands Regional Council Manager Community Recreation and Facilities Steven Gatt said the pool party will be a great way for the community to connect and share the poolside fun.
‘Council has waived the entry fee for the pool and slides at the pool for the celebrations,’ Mr Gatt said.
‘I’m sure this will be a great way for everyone to celebrate the beginning of spring, school holidays and warmer weather and remind us what the local pool is all about.’
Mr Gatt encouraged visitors to share a photo of their best pool party memory marked with #YourCH and #abcthepool on social media and said this event was the start of a series of waived entry fee pool days across the Central Highlands pools this summer.
The Emerald Aquatic Centre is open seven days a week during the school holidays with water slides operating on weekends between 1.00 pm and 4.00 pm. For more information on pool operating hours visit emeraldaquaticcentre.com.au
