Aspiring authors invited to inaugural Yeppoon Writers’ Group meeting

Following the inaugural Capricorn Coast Writers Festival earlier this year, Kate-Lyn said she was motivated to gather other writers together for inspiration and fellowship with like-minded people here in Yeppoon.

“I’ve been a part of writers’ groups for many years in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast, and when I moved to Yeppoon in March of this year I discovered there was not a writers’ group currently running in Yeppoon,” Kate-Lyn explained.

“I’m looking forward to connecting with other writers and poets here in Yeppoon and creating a sense of community among like-minded people.

“I would like for us to be able to come together and to help each other develop our knowledge of writing and publishing by sharing our collective experiences and knowledge, and to inspire and motivate each other to set and achieve personal writing goals.

“I will also provide a handout of information for writers, including writing opportunities and competitions.

“I’ve found that accountability is incredibly helpful in achieving my own writing and publishing activities, and through meeting on a monthly basis, participants are inspired to challenge themselves in a supported environment,” Kate-Lyn said.

Libraries Arts and Culture Councillor Pat Eastwood said writers and poets of all stages and skill level are encouraged to attend.

“Whether you are looking to send to publishers or just enjoy writing as a hobby, this is a wonderful opportunity to come along and be a part of the fun,” Cr Eastwood said.

“This local group connects aspiring and experienced writers by bringing them together to support and encourage each other on their writing journey. Council would like to commend Kate-Lyn on taking the initiative to establish a writing group for the Capricorn Coast community.”

Anyone who is interested in writing is welcome to attend on Wednesday 25 September, 6pm-7pm at the Yeppoon Library, John Street.
