We are seeking a Foreperson to supervise our Mareeba Parks and Gardens team and oversee day to day planning and delivery of these operations. This includes the management of Council open spaces, parks and play equipment, cemetery maintenance and burials, footpath maintenance, street cleaning and urban tree management.
The successful applicant will have demonstrated supervisory experience, a broad knowledge of the operations of parks and gardens, detailed knowledge of and experience in applying workplace health and safety requirements in the workplace, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and sound computer skills. A qualification in horticulture will be highly regarded.
The position may require physically demanding work to be undertaken in a hot and humid climate on a day to day basis. It is the responsibility of the incumbent to ensure they are physically fit and able to efficiently and consistently undertake these tasks. This includes a requirement for the incumbent to maintain their weight at or below the Safe Working Load (SWL) for the machinery and equipment the position is required to use and operate.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical examination, which includes drug and alcohol testing, during the recruitment process.
