Join us at Cessnock City Library for the Cessnock launch of The Church that would not Die, St Michael the Archangel, Wollombi.
On Monday 30 September co-author Gael Winnick will tell the story of this extraordinary local church and its history. St Michael the Archangel at Wollombi is one of the most recognisable buildings in the Wollombi Valley and has an extraordinary tale.
The Friends of St. Michael’s put it well when they said, “Paid for three times, flooded, re-built, rocked by an earthquake, closed, auctioned and even dynamited, the story of St Michael’s miraculous survival emphasises the position of the church in the community of the Wollombi Valley.”
