Council will be hosting and supporting some exciting, family-friendly activities during the September school holidays.
The Towers Rush leadup events begin today, 19 September, with the ‘Come and Try Mountain Bike Skill Session’ starting at 3pm until 6pm.
Bring your bike and helmet or use one of the many available to up your skills on the BMX Track at Defiance Mill Park.
On Saturday, 21 September ‘Come and Try Kayaking’ will be held at Big Bend. Session 1, starting at 7:00am is suitable for adults and teenagers only. Session 2, starting at 8:30am is suitable for all levels including kids 7+.
The Excelsior Library will be offering a free, 2-week school holiday program.
Week 1, starting 23 September, will feature various arts and crafts, including dancing astronaut, mosaics and thumb wrestling game.
Week 2 will feature rubber band racer, finger puppets, ghost lanterns, bird kites and gardening.
On Saturday 5 October, the Library will once again hold ‘Fun Palaces.’ This year enjoy ‘Theatre Art’ with the Towers Players, ‘Dark Space’ – make your own constellations and ‘Art Space’ – create your own portrait.
Besides screening the latest blockbuster movies, The World Theatre will be offering balloon and ukulele workshops.
The ‘Moovin’ Balloonin’ Fun Balloon School’ will reveal some of the ‘secrets’ to create balloon constructions. For kids 5+ years and ‘big kids’ alike. Nothing to bring except your willingness to have fun!
‘Fun Uke for Kids’ is a simple, but fun workshop, introducing children 5+ years to the very cute and often funny ukulele. No musical knowledge required, nothing to bring. All equipment and ukuleles supplied.
