Three of the shire’s war memorials are getting some additional care thanks to a NSW Government’s Community War Memorials grant.

Lettering at the Tilba war memorial will be regilded and access will be easier with a new concrete path constructed from the service station driveway.

The Wagonga Street war memorial in Narooma will see memorial plaques resurfaced and some repointing of the sandstone column.

At Batemans Bay, the war memorial will see full replacement of lettering and correction of two misspelt entries: F. Brooke and L.H. Brooke will both have the trailing ‘e’ removed from their surnames. The gap where the obelisk joins the base will also be filled.

Work on the memorials will be finished before November Remembrance Day ceremonies and overseen by Council’s heritage advisor.
