Shake off grey of winter at Terang Colour Dash

As the grey skies of winter give way to the blue of spring, Corangamite Shire Youth Council is inviting everyone to come and make a big, fun, colourful, mess in Terang.

Youth Projects Officer Jen Rowan said the Corangamite Youth Council had teamed up with the Colour Terang Festival to deliver the Terang Colour Dash at the cricket ground on Friday 27 September.

“There will be loads of colour, music, and fun,” Ms Rowan said.

“The dash will run from 1 pm-3 pm around an obstacle course, thanks to Mount Emu Creek Pony Club which lent us its obstacles, and Bourkey’s Tyres.

“It’s not timed so you can be as competitive or as chilled out as you like.”

Participants will shower each other with safe, natural cornflour coloured with plant-based dyes.

“Make sure you wear old clothes and a white T-shirt,” Ms Rowan said.

“Plain white tees will be sold on the day for $5 and will make a fun souvenir after the event.”

DJ Chris Barks will play Top 40 music for people who would rather dance than dash.

The dash is part of the first ever Terang Colour Fest, a new event supported Council’s Events and Festivals Grants.

The festival, from 10 AM until 3 PM, will include live music, a street market, an art installation by Jimmi Buscombe, a quilt show, photography exhibition, local makers creating art, and more.

Tickets are $5 or $15 for a family, with children under 12 free, and can be booked here.
