Pool party fun to make a splash in Dalby this weekend

Residents are invited to celebrate the opening of Dalby’s new and improved Aquatic Centre at a community pool party this Saturday morning.

The Aquatic Centre in Dalby will come alive from 10am this Saturday to officially open for the summer and show off the latest facility improvements, which include refurbishments to the grandstand, toilets, showers, and changerooms.

SwimFit Business Manager Jenni Belcher said that her team was looking forward to launching into the season’s activities, following the official opening of the upgrades.

“Our whole team is so excited to celebrate the fabulous new grandstand and we want the community to join us in the celebrations with a pool party this Saturday, 21 September,” Ms Belcher said.

“The region is home to some fantastic community facilities and it’s great to partner with Council to deliver aquatic events that the whole community can enjoy.”

Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Paul McVeigh encouraged all Western Downs residents to come along and have a look at the new features of the Aquatic Centre.

“Council is committed to delivering excellent facilities and recreational spaces that boost the region’s community lifestyle,” Cr McVeigh said.

“Our pool parties have proved extremely popular in the past, with nearly 1,000 people attending similar events last summer.

“The event will kick off at 10am this Saturday following the official opening of the new grandstand and it would be great to see people of all ages come along.”

The Dalby Aquatic Centre grandstand upgrade was made possible by the Queensland Government’s ‘Works for Queensland’ initiative, with Local Government Minister The Honourable Stirling Hinchliffe to officially open the facility prior to the pool party on Saturday.

These upgrades are also part of Council’s program to upgrade pool facilities this financial year, with maintenance works also planned for Jandowae and Tara pools.
